The Type 6 Shuttle was a standard shuttle carried on board of Galaxy Class starships and many other Starfleet ships. The original full-size filming mock-up was created by shortening one of the two Galileo Type Shuttles , built for "Star Trek V: The Final Frontier". This way the producers saved money while creating a replacement for the inaccurate Type 7 mock-up, which doesn't look entirely like the filming miniature.
