Product Description
The Kzintis are a species of eight-foot-tall felines; the Klingons call them "tigermen." They are adjacent to the Federation (and have fought two major wars with them, losing both) and the Klingons (and have fought several wars with them, winning a few and losing a few). Kzinti ships are armed with disruptors, phasers, and drones. They have more drones on their standard warships than any other empire, and forests of phaser-3s, because their ships are designed to fight each other. (They have had more civil wars than foreign wars.) They are enemies of the Klingons and Lyrans and allies of convenience with the Hydrans and Federation.

The Kzintis, like most empires, built a tug to carry standard cargo pods at fleet (rather than freighter) speed. To avoid limiting heavy cruiser construction, the tugs were built on the hulls of the previous generation of early years cruiser hulls. Intended for a fleet support unit, the tug rapidly evolved into a combat unit carrying combat pods (battle pods, carrier pods, or gunboat pods). Like the Klingons and Lyrans, the Kzintis built two kinds of Tugs, a transport with two disruptors and a combat unit with four disruptors. Since the transport unit had dummy disruptor mounts so that it could not be told from the combat version, this one miniature covers both types. Transport tugs had a critical mission in supporting the fleet on the offensive, particularly by building and repairing bases as the fleet advanced. Theoretically either type could carry combat pods but if the job was combat the Kzintis preferred to send the combat tug to do it. Both versions can carry one pod on the centerline or two pods side-by-side. Both versions had huge type-D drone racks with multiple magazines feeding a single launcher on each side of the ship.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
