Product Description
The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Drex Unity is comprised of a series of intelligent robots, created by the walrus-like Drexari, who promptly gave up running their own civilization once they had the Drex to do everything for them. (There is no indication that the Drex have ever considered turning on their creators.) The Drex are strongly isolationist, only expanding when they deem it necessary to provide more living space for their Drexari masters. However, this did not prevent several other empires from going to war with the Drex. Drex ships are designed for a single purpose which, in the case of their main fleet, is war. They are controlled by advanced supercomputers, which the robotic Drex can interface with directly; this provides Drex warships with a number of advantages in battle. They are armed with wide-angle and particle phaser types, as well as light and heavy hypercannons.

Perhaps one of the most unusual ships seen anywhere, the Drex Hex Cruiser was designed to be able to field heavy hypercannons in six different directions at once. Each of the six outer prongs is also armed with a wide-angle phaser-1; the central hull has four forward-oriented light hypercannons and a pair of 360-degree wide-angle phaser-3s. Remarkably, despite its highly unorthodox design, the ship is still as agile as a standard Drex Battlecruiser, though it has a slower maximum tactical warp speed. In theory, the ship would be able to help defend a Drex squadron's aft flanks, where heavy hypercannon firepower was historically lacking. In practice, the Drex found that the ship provided too many choices, and excelled at nothing. This design was considered a failure and exists mainly as an historical footnote.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
