Akeru/Ruti Votive

This 3" votive plaque features the twin lions who guard the Horizons (i.e., the eastern and western borders of the Duat) and protect Ra as he traverses these dangerous liminal spaces during sunrise and sunset. They also symbolize Yesterday and Tomorrow. Designed to be hung from a nail or the like, this plaque would be well placed near the main entrance of one's home to guard against evil spirits just as the Ruti ( = "the Two Lions") were similiarly utilized during ancient times.
