Flip Gear Disconnect is a variation of the
Flip Gears. The top parts have been flattered, such that they disconnect when swiveled opposite. It is a bit like a clutch. This mechanism was designed in response to a challenge by Ferdinand Lammertink in 2013, when he was looking for a gear mechanism with these properties. The mechanism is related to the
angled coupler.
