Omni Scale Lyran Large Freighter (Class-II) CVN

The Lyrans are human-sized cats that bore a distinct similarity to Terran lynxes in both appearance and temperament. Bitter enemies of the Kzintis (tigermen eight feet tall), the Lyrans were staunch allies of the Klingons and enemies of the Hydrans as well. Like Kzintis, Lyrans were carnivores known to eat their captives on rare occasions. The Federation assigned each Lyran ship-type a “reporting name” to keep them separate. Lyrans were organized as a feudal society. Twenty-one counties each had a squadron of ships lead by a heavy cruiser; four dukes had dreadnoughts to lead the four fleets, while the king-emperor commanded from the capital.

All empires operated large freighters, known as Class-II as they carried two cargo pods. Consisting of a drive/control unit and pods, the concept was for the drive/control unit to take pods of cargo to a planet and leave it there to be unloaded later, picking up pods of export cargo and taking them to an industrial center for processing. As large freighters carried two pods, such a ship could either carry cargo to and from two separate planets, or twice as much cargo to a single destination. While every empire used the standard civilian freighter, every empire also built their own local freighters which were able to carry both the standard 40x200 meter cylindrical pods as well as their national pods which had a similar volume but a unique shape. Here we have the Lyran drive/control unit carrying two Lyran cargo pallets. In theory the civilian heavy freighter could carry the pods of any nation and the drive unit of any nation could carry any other nation’s pods.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
