The Congo Class, as it is now named by its designer Doug Drexler, was originally meant to be an alternate design for the Universe Class (Enterprise-J) and i can understand why it was rejected back then. It too much looks like what it is. An older proposal for the USS Voyager (Altair Class) with a new saucer clapped on it in a very conventional way. The final Enterprise-J looks much more organic and therefore futuristic. That is why i thought about a way to combine the saucer and the Altair hull in a more organic way and also keeping the signature deflector dish of the Universe Class. So, as this is my personal alternate design for the Congo Class, i name this the USS Zaire ;-) Maybe it's the Congo Class of the Mirror Universe...
