Product Description
A standard large (type-II) freighter consisted of two cargo pods (of any of various types) with a drive unit in the back and a control unit in the front. The two units were connected by a small tunnel comprising a turbolift shaft and power connections and a minimal framework.) In normal operations, a freighter would bring its cargo pods to the destination and pick up other cargo pods (which had been left on a previous trip). This is how planets imported needed items and exported their production. From time to time, it was necessary for a freighter to leave its pods at a destination and "dead head" without pods (or a paycheck) to another location. When this happened, the drive unit was coupled directly to the control unit and the disassembled turbolift tube and framework was stacked between the two sections. This mini reflects this mode, which was described as "travelling in ballast" since that was the term used centuries earlier by oceanic freighters.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
