Product Description
The D6 heavy cruiser was the first modern Klingon cruiser. A powerful and effective warship (with little space wasted for niceties like laboratories), it was the standard Klingon cruiser for decades until superseded by the D7 battlecruiser.

So successful was the D6, that the “more modern” D7 followed its configuration closely, externally almost identical, incorporating slight increases in power and weapons, with most of the improvements being in things largely of interest to logistics officers.

The D6 remained in production long after the D7 was introduced, first as a ship to fulfill “medium-sized missions” other empires would use a destroyer or light cruiser for (ship classes the Klingons didn’t introduce their own versions of for many more years) and later as the basis of many variants to support the fleet (such as the D6S heavy scout). As the Klingons never throw away a weapon, dozens of old D6s were stockpiled in reserve, ready to serve again if-needed – many of these ships were later sold to the Romulans as their famous “KR” cruisers, the first warships the Romulans had that had been built for high warp speeds from the keel-up.

Over the D6’s long service life, the ships received several refits to keep them competitive with threats built later. This model is the “D6K” refitted version, which improved the ship’s weapons. The Aztek panels on the outer surfaces represent efforts to reduce the electronic signature of the ship and conceal the improvements from the enemy.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
