Tatra T2 overview

The Tatra T2 is the second generation of PCC trams produced by Tatra in Smíchov/Prague. It was designed by František Karduas and resembled its U.S. model more than its predecessor, the T1. Although it was more durable than the T1, it was also significantly larger and heavier. However, the weight of the tram ultimately led to the relatively quick development of its successor - the famous Tatra T3.

Despite its short production life, from 1957 to 1962, over 770 trams were manufactured and operated in various Middle and Eastern European cities including Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Pilsen, Bratislava, Kiev, Moscow, Petersburg, and others.
