1/200 Algérie 203mm/50 (8") Model 1931 Guns x4

1/200 Scale Algérie 203mm/50 (8") Model 1931 Guns x4 (2x without Rangefinder and 2x with 5m Rangefinder). These are incredibly highly detailed parts modelled using plans as well as many reference photographs to make these the most accurate and detailed Algérie 203mm/50 (8") Model 1931 Guns available. These parts are NOT lifted from computer game models like some other Shop Owners parts. Check to see which sellers show separate renders of their items and not just the Shapeways default render.

Details include:

• 4x Mountings (Turret I and IIII, Turret II and III with Rangefinder) with separately printed barrels which can be angled as desired
• accurate rivet and hex nut placement
• Sighting Hatches, accurate Venting and Access Hatches
• Rangefinders printed separately for minimum Wax Support contact on Turret Roof.

Historical Data:
A new design used on France's Treaty Cruisers in twin turrets. Also used in a special lightweight twin mounting on the submarine Surcouf.

This weapon was of simple construction with a thick autofretted A tube, shrunk jacket and breech ring. The Welin breech-block opened upwards.

Actual bore diameter was 20.30 cm (7.992").

A note on sources: Many references state that Algérie used a longer 55 caliber gun, but recent research by John Jordan and Jean Moulin in their "French Cruisers: 1922 - 1956" has determined that she carried the same 50 caliber guns as did the older cruisers.

Cleaning Information
Some part cleanup will be necessary. The 3D printing process uses a waxy substance to support certain part features during the printing process. Although the parts are cleaned by Shapeways, some waxy residue may remain.  It can be safely removed with water and a mild aqueous detergent like "Simple Green" using an old, soft toothbrush, Q-tips or pipe cleaners. During the printing process, liquid resin is cured by ultraviolet light. Microscopic bits of resin may remain uncured.

Let your parts sit in direct sunlight for a few hours to fully cure the resin.  
Water-based acrylic paints meant for plastics is strongly recommended. Other paints, especially enamels, may not cure on Frosted Detail 3D-printed plastics.
Use dedicated model sprue cutters to remove parts to minimise the risk of damage to parts.
