Product Description
This design was first proposed at the same time as the new light cruiser. The concept of raiding ships was then the hot ticket item. The design was kept in reserve until later in the General War when three were built to supplement the raider force for operations behind enemy lines. Unfortunately, the small hulls proved incapable of the deep raids of full cruisers and only a few ships of the type were produced. The ships were used to chase down raiding cruisers in an effort to engage them until other forces could be gathered. They would often be held out of the fighting near a battle area, as they were under-gunned and there was no reason to risk them, but then would be used to pursue fleeing enemy cripples. Known names include 1381 San Martin, 1382 Simon Bolivar, and 1383 Pancho Villa. The fans asked for the smooth-saucer version as a classic look and for ease of adding decals.
This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
