RYE camber Tramway (3ft gauge)
open wagons
The railway opened in 1895 with a loco(Camber) and one coach supplied by Bagnalls. A second loco(Victoria) was supplied in 1897.
3 wagons were supplied(Rother Ironworks?).
The 4 plank wagons were intended for sand transport for building of Admialty Pier at Dover , the 2 plank wagon was for permanent way work. In later years they were also used for passenger transport by adding temporary seating.
The railway continued to run(just about) up till start of WW2 when the area was taken over by the navy. At end of WW2 it was decided to not re-open the line.
