3788 Scale Kzinti X-Ship New Heavy Cruiser (NAX)

The Kzintis are a species of eight-foot-tall felines; the Klingons call them “tigermen.” They are adjacent to the Federation (and have fought two major wars with them, losing both) and the Klingons (and have fought several wars with them, winning a few and losing a few). Kzinti ships are armed with disruptors, phasers, and drones. They have more drones on their standard warships than any other empire and forests of phaser-3s because their ships are designed to fight each other. (They have had more civil wars than foreign wars.) They are enemies of the Klingons and Lyrans and allies of convenience with the Hydrans and Federation.

The Kzinti economy was very badly disrupted during the General War, with much of their space overrun and occupied by Coalition forces and their capital planets reduced to rubble. While their borders had been restored by the General War’s end, their economy was still mostly in ruins. Knowing the Coalition empires that bordered it had not suffered similar devastation and might return to invade the Hegemony again, the Kzintis knew they would need as many advanced technology ships as they could assemble.

Like most of the other empires, the Hegemony turned to its new heavy cruiser design, which could be assembled in more yards than the advanced battlecruiser and advanced command cruiser could. The advanced technology new heavy cruiser was smaller (and thus less resistant to damage) than the X-Ship Battlecruiser and X-Ship Command Cruiser. While it had the same weapons as the X-Ship Battlecruiser, it had somewhat less power and was less able to overload and fire those weapons.

At least six ships of this class were in service when the Andromedan rapid transit network was discovered. Known names include Deathstriker, Firestriker, Shadowstriker, and Swordstriker.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
