3788 Scale Hydran Escort Lancer CVN

The Hydrans are an unusual species that live on the far side of the Klingon Empire, along the edge of the galaxy. They are enemies of the Klingons and Lyrans, and were conquered by those empires at one point, only to drive the invaders out decades later. Hydrans breathe methane and live on cold type-S gas giants on silicate continents floating on liquid methane oceans.

The Hydrans were a fighter-dominant empire and quickly learned the same lesson as others (but they learned it faster). Carriers needed escorts more to protect the fighters that had just launched and the damaged fighters trying to land. Frigates, destroyers, war destroyers, and light cruisers were converted for escort duty, giving up their fusion beams for more phasers and the aegis fire control system, which was deadly against seeking weapons and enemy fighters. The Escort Lancer carried six Stinger fighters which were usually assigned to defend the carrier group and its fighters from enemy fighter attacks, but they could be added to offensive strikes by the carrier's primary strike force.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
