The New Horizons craft was launched in 2006 on a voyage to Pluto. It made it's fly by in July of 2015 sending back incredibly detailed images of the surface and it's moon, Charon. Before this mission we only had blurry images of a dot, now we can see exactly what the surface looks like of a planetary body discovered less than 100 years ago. This mission really illustrates the rapid progression we humans have made in the understand and exploration of our universe over the past century. What was once suspected, then hotly debated, is now directly measured. Science doesn't get any better than that!
