Key To The Stars

This is skeleton key styled bottle opener keychain that can also be worn as a pendant. It incorperates design elements from the Pioneer 10 and 11 Spacecrafts. Pioneer's 10 and 11 were launched in 72/73 and carried golden plaques depicting a man and a woman, along with a diagram of our solar system and other information. The solar system diagram is cut through the key letting light shine through, and the Sun makes the hole for the chain or key ring.  The fine lines around the sun are adapted from the map on the plaque showing the relative distance of our Sun to the center of the Milky Way Galaxy and several pulsars. The Pioneer plaque was humanity's first attempt at extraterrestrial self expression, with information being conveyed through imagery. I like the think that this key represents the unlocking of knowledge and potential for human kind, so crack open a cold one and go where no one has gone before.

This key measures approx 3 in long and will slip through most key chain split rings 1in diameter or greater.
