3125 Scale Lyran King Jaguar-P New Gunboat Tender

The Lyrans are human-sized cats that bore a distinct similarity to Terran lynxes in both appearance and temperament. Bitter enemies of the Kzintis (tigermen eight feet tall), the Lyrans were staunch allies of the Klingons and enemies of the Hydrans as well. Like Kzintis, Lyrans were carnivores known to eat their captives on rare occasions. The Federation assigned each Lyran ship-type a "reporting name" to keep them separate. Lyrans were organized as a feudal society. Twenty-one counties each had a squadron of ships lead by a heavy cruiser; four dukes had dreadnoughts to lead the four fleets, while the king-emperor commanded from the capital.

Gunboat tenders or PF tenders were ships designed to transport, supply, repair, and find targets for a flotilla of six gunboats (also known as fast patrol ships). The gunboats themselves were too short-ranged to accompany a fleet on their own. (Most gunboats operated from planets or bases; gunboat tenders were the only way to add their intense firepower to a fleet.) Gunboat tenders had repair systems, docking points built into their tractor beams, and special sensors to find targets and provide electronic warfare support for the flotilla. At least one damaged King Jaguar new heavy cruiser was converted into this design and one Leopard-class fast patrol ship tender was converted into a second ship of the type. The Lyrans found, however, that war gunboat tenders [based on the somewhat smaller Jaguar war cruiser hulls] were adequate and preferred to use King Jaguar new heavy cruiser hulls for other purposes.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
