Object 477 Molot Armoured Fighting Vehicle Prototype
In the mid-1980s, engineers from several Soviet design bureaus decided to create a fighting machine with an unmanned turret. The new project compiled various proven and reliable service solutions and new unusual layouts of various components.
The “Hammer”, according to its developers, was to have the most powerful cannon of that time; the 152-mm cannon, with impressive firepower for a weapon of this calibre, – 34/35 shots using various types of ammunition.
Sergei Suvorov, an expert on armoured military vehicles, spoke about the unique features of Object 477 in an interview with the Zvezda TV Channel, saying, “Object-477 should not be considered as just a tank with an unmanned turret. It differed from the mass produced battle tanks in the fact that its crew was stationed below the roof of the body. The roof itself contained just a cannon with an automatic loader, a sighting complex and other equipment and systems used for reconnaissance purposes and to ensure firing accuracy.”
Cleaning Information
Some part cleanup will be necessary. The 3D printing process uses a waxy substance to support certain part features during the printing process. Although the parts are cleaned by Shapeways, some waxy residue may remain. It can be safely removed with water and a mild aqueous detergent like "Simple Green" using an old, soft toothbrush, Q-tips or pipe cleaners. During the printing process, liquid resin is cured by ultraviolet light. Microscopic bits of resin may remain uncured.
Let your parts sit in direct sunlight for a few hours to fully cure the resin.
Water-based acrylic paints meant for plastics is strongly recommended. Other paints, especially enamels, may not cure on Frosted Detail 3D-printed plastics.
Use dedicated model sprue cutters to remove parts to minimise the risk of damage to parts.
