NOTES- Shapeways' recommendations for cleaning, preparing and finishing Fine Detail Plastics can be found here.
- This body-shell is designed to fit the Kato 11-109 chassis and is a snug fit, so some careful filing might be required to sit it properly on the chassis. Remove the outer dome of the motor cover from above the Kato ladders as shown in the chassis photogra ph above..
- The Kato motor housing wants to 'peep' through the bodyshell in the cab door area. Either carve away some of the motor housing in that area or push out the thin panels marked YELLOW in the green drawing of the bodyshell above.
- Buffer beams, footsteps and handrails are are printed within the bodyshell and can be carefully snapped away with tweezers. Handrails are printed at the minimum thickness supported. Stronger etched nickel-silver Guard Rails from N Brass Locos might also be suitable.
- Join printed parts to each-other using cyanoacrylic adhesive (eg Superglue).
- Join printed parts to the Kato chassis using epoxy adhesive (eg Araldite) after roughening the mating surfaces.
- Adding 15-25 grams of additional weight to this model will greatly improve its traction.
- Instructions for DCC enabling the Kato 11-109 are available from Tramfabriek.
