Zeppelin Q-Type  (Navy L20 Class)

This model depicts Q-Types as built in the Friedrichshafen sheds - for Potsdam built versions please click HERE.

Essentially a Zeppelin P-Type extended by 15 meters, the first Q-Type flew in December  1915.  12 Q-Types were built, 5 for the Navy  (where they became the Navy L20 Class,) and 7 for the Army. During 1916 the Army lengthened 6 of their existing P-Types effectvely making them Q-Types.

For defence the Q-Type carried machine guns in both the rear power car and front control gondola as well as having a three gun position on the top front of the hull.
