A Zero could stay in the air for a long time: 7 hours was its normal flying duration, but flights lasting twelve or even twenty-four hours were not uncommon. The record was held by SSZ 39 which, with full war equipment, flew uninterupted for 50 hours.
The first ever use of the term "blimp" was in relation to Zeros.

The S.S. Zero was the most successful development of the British S.S., "Submarine Scout" Class non-rigid airships of WW1. Considering how simple the first of the class were (a wing-less BE2c aircraft slung beneath a relatively small rubberized fabric envelope) the S S Zero was surprisingly sophisticated and gave good service during 1917 and 18. As well as battling German submarines (when they could find them!) they served as convoy escorts and released large numbers of light cruisers and destroyers for other duties. Bad weather seldom prevented Zeros from performing their work.
