Product Description
When fighters were developed in the period between the Four Powers War and the General War, no one really knew how they could best be operated. The Klingons, like some other empires, adopted the theory of two fighter types, an “assault” fighter to attack ships (the Z-1) and a “superiority” fighter to engage other fighters (the Z-2 seen elsewhere). The first Klingon carriers had mixed squadrons of Z-1 and Z-2. This theory didn’t work out as expected and by the fourth year of the General War few assault fighters were in front-line service, being replaced by superiority fighters on most carriers and disruptor-armed fighters on some heavy carriers. The Z-1, affectionately known as the “Zoran” by its pilots, had a phaser-2 as its primary armament, two type-I drones, and a phaser-3 tailgun operated by the navigator.

This comb of fighters is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
