Product Description
The Lyrans are human-sized cats that bore a distinct similarity to Terran lynxes in both appearance and temperament. Bitter enemies of the Kzintis (tigermen eight feet tall), the Lyrans were staunch allies of the Klingons and enemies of the Hydrans as well. Like Kzintis, Lyrans were carnivores known to eat their captives on rare occasions. The Federation assigned each Lyran ship-type a "reporting name" to keep them separate. Lyrans were organized as a feudal society. Twenty-one counties each had a squadron of ships lead by a heavy cruiser; four dukes had dreadnoughts to lead the four fleets, while the king-emperor commanded from the capital.

The Jaguar-H heavy war cruiser was a standard conversion of a Leopard destroyer (or a new build) that used two Manx police corvette engines in a “V” mounting above the rear hull in place of a hot warp destroyer engine. This gave the ship extra power. The Lyran Jaguar-H heavy war cruiser was perhaps the most successful of the heavy war-cruiser designs. It benefited from the small size of the Leopard destroyer hull, which was its progenitor. The problem was that the demand for Jaguar war cruisers remained high, and the heavy design, while having more firepower than a standard Jaguar war cruiser, did not rise to the level of the contemporary King Jaguar new heavy cruiser. The Lyrans, with their economy already ravaged by years of war, simply could not expand Jaguar war cruiser production enough to convert entirely to this design. The Lyrans produced several ships of this type, about one per year. They did not work well in a squadron with other Jaguar war cruisers and were often selected for lone patrols, plenty of which needed doing. Federation codename: Jaguar-H. Known names include Asfar, Red Claw Hunter, Battle Cat, Battle Leopard, Battle Fang, Battle Claw, Blood Drainer, and Rhotiska.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
