Product Description
The Omega Octant is east of the Alpha Octant empires seen in the Star Fleet Universe (beyond the Inter-Stellar Concordium), on the other side of a galactic void. That void is a dead zone where life is impossible and ships fall apart, marking a separation between Octants. The Drex Unity is comprised of a series of intelligent robots, created by the walrus-like Drexari, who promptly gave up running their own civilization once they had the Drex to do everything for them. (There is no indication that the Drex have ever considered turning on their creators.) The Drex are strongly isolationist, only expanding when they deem it necessary to provide more living space for their Drexari masters. However, this did not prevent several other empires from going to war with the Drex. Drex ships are designed for a single purpose which, in the case of their main fleet, is war. They are controlled by advanced supercomputers, which the robotic Drex can interface with directly; this provides Drex warships with a number of advantages in battle. They are armed with wide-angle and particle phaser types, as well as light and heavy hypercannons.

As with a number of Omega Octant empires, the Drex first responded to the demands for a dreadnought-sized vessel by scaling up their pre-existing cruiser design. In this instance, the result was particularly successful, presenting a powerful offensive suite anchored by seven heavy and eight light hypercannons. Opponents of the Drex soon learned to fear and respect this ship. Notably, the Andromedans once made an attempt to board the dreadnought DN-02, with the goal of installing a computer virus which, they hoped, would grant them control over the ship and its complement of Drex robots. This attempt only partly succeeded; the ship was driven “berserk” and needed to be forcefully recovered by a relief squadron led by the Drex battlecruiser BC-11. Eventually, the Andromedans gave up trying to compromise the Drex software programs and prepared to invade the Drex Unity in a more “traditional” (for the Andromedans) manner.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
