Product Description
Most fleets built frigates before the General War and switched to larger war destroyers as the General War carried on. The Romulans initially had no frigate version of their Hawk series of ships (which included the FireHawk, SparrowHawk, and SkyHawk) as there were plenty of old Snipe-class frigates of the old Eagle-series to perform such missions. As time went on, however, more and more Snipes were lost and their old construction techniques for their old designs were wasteful and slow.

Starting with the SkyHawk destroyer, Romulan designers scaled it down to a true frigate christened the SeaHawk by Federation intelligence. This ship was suited for fast and cheap production as they were not expected to survive more than a few years anyway. The Romulans beat the equation of “good fast cheap” by compromising the unrecognized fourth element: longevity.

The SeaHawk was too small for fleet duties when built, but often served as a convoy escort or patrol ship. The police forces acquired some of these (with cloaks) after the last of the ancient Snipe-class had been replaced by SeaHawks (or Klingon-built KE4s and KF5s) and the last of the Snipes were given to the police. Many variants were produced including carriers, scouts, escorts, resupply ships, troop transports, and cargo transports.

The ship is available in a variety of materials. (Smooth Fine Detail Plastic makes an excellent cloaked ship!) Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
