- she participated in Atlantic neutrality patrols early 1940's, reinforced the British Navy in 1941, and helped ferry aircrafts to Medditerranean (Malta) first half of 1942
- she was transferred to the Pacific June 1942 after carrier losses in Coral Sea and Midway, and supported in the Guadacanal campaign
- she was hit by 3 torpedoes from I-19 south of Guadacanal on 15 Sept 1942, abandoned due to uncontrolled fires and sunk afterwards by USS Lansdowne
