3125 Scale Tholian X-Ship War Cruiser (CWX) SRZ

Tholians are a crystalline species that once ruled the M81 Galaxy. When the Tholian Will was overthrown by the Seltorians, some small groups of Tholians fled to other galaxies. One small group of Tholians reached the Milky Way, where they took over the easternmost part of Klingon space, the part that originally bordered the Romulans. They called this the Tholian Holdfast. The Tholians (who considered carbon-based life to be lower than bacteria) enslaved Klingon colonies in the region and kept the Klingons at bay by their (at the time) superior technology. Their foes, the Seltorians, arrived in the Milky Way Galaxy later.

With the close of the General War, the Holdfast directed its energies against the Seltorians. To that end, they needed more large X-ships (i.e., cruisers) and the production of true heavy cruisers remained limited. Fortunately, other empires had shown the path forward, by building non-war versions of war cruisers. (All war cruisers were built cheap and fast as they were not expected to survive more than a few years of combat. The same design, however, could be built more slowly and while they cost more, these ships could be converted to X-technology while fast/cheap war cruisers could not be.)

The first ship of this class appeared just after the General War, and was regarded by Federation intelligence as indicative of an intention by the Holdfast to launch its own direct assault on the Seltorian Hive Ship and the planetary defenses that would support it. It became a ship without this original mission when the Inter-Stellar Concordium (with an assist by the Klingons) removed the Seltorian threat for the time being. During the Andromedan Invasion, the Holdfast constructed at more CWs to this design, but held all of its advanced technology ships in its own space. Like all Holdfast welded hulls, it was a solid design with excellent combat capabilities. The smaller area of the Holdfast (compared to other empires) better enabled its advanced technology squadrons to respond to Andromedan incursions, something the Andromedans apparently realized, as there were few such attacks during the Andromedan War. As with their other advanced technology ships, the Holdfast opted not to risk any of these ships as part of their Operation Unity task force.

This ship is available in a variety of materials. Ships are unpainted, use standard flight stands available from many sources, and, while designed for gaming, make fine display pieces.
