Product Description
The Japanese Army (IJA) developed before the WW II an own series of Landing Ship Tanks. After several prototypes the 21 Ships of the SS Series of LST´s were launched. The first ship of SS - LST´s, the Koryu Maru was smaller. The The second ship of this class was the Banryu Maru and the third ship of the SS - LST´s was named Kairyu Maru. The Kairyu Maru was the model for the following ships of this class SS-4 to SS-21. In 1944 they were taken over by the japanese Navy as ES Class LST´s and renamed SS-1 to SS-21. They were armed with an 75mm AA-Gun, 20mm (later 25mm) AA-Guns, Depth Charges and a 150mm Motar. They could carry four light tanks or a truck and 170 Troops. Die japanische Armee (IJA) entwickelte vor dem zweiten Weltkrieg eine eigene Serie von Panzerlandungsschiffen (LST). Nach mehreren Versuchsschiffen wurden dann die 21 Schiffe der SS Klasse vom Stapel gelassen, das erste Schiff der SS Klasse, die Koryu Maru, war etwas kleiner. Als zweites Schiff wurde die Banryu Maru aufgelegt und als drittes Schiff folgte die Kairyu Maru. Alle folgenden Bauten, SS-4 bis SS21 wurden nach ihrem Vorbild gefertigt. 1944 wurden die Schiffe von der japanischen Marine als ES Klasse übernommen und in SS-1 bis SS-21 umbenannt. Sie waren mit einer 75mm Flak, mehreren leichten 20mm (später 25mm) Maschinenkanonen, einem 150mm Mörser so wie Wasserbomben bewaffnet und konnten 4 leichte Panzer oder einen LKW und 170 Soldaten transportieren. Das Set enthält 1 x Koryu Maru, 1 x Banryu Maru, 6 x SS-3 bis SS-21 Kairyu Maru
