voice actor keychain

This mental piece was specially designed for a person’s birthday. He was born in December (so a Sagittarius), and he currently is a voice actor and he likes sports. When we first began to design the model, we were thinking about bringing some of his major characteristics into the design, for example, by holding a bow and arrow in his hands as an archer. In the end, we have decided to use the voice actor identity, because this was what brought me into connection with him in the first place.
The original model was sitting on a chair with a floor stand mic and headphones on his ears. It was just like a traditional voice actor working in a studio. Once we had a rough idea, we began to bring more innovative elements into the design. I asked Rook to change his chair to a swing. Because in one of his audio dramas, the swing was used as the main theme, and the script was specially written for me; therefore, I feel very emotionally attached to a swing.
The swing model had been changed a few times, mainly because we had to consider not putting too many details like vines with leaves and flowers because the final product might not be able to show all these. In the end, we chose a circle shape because it is something simple and nice.
As for the hairstyle, we had tried a few different looks too. Hair is another element that could easily lose its fine details in 3D printing. We chose a very famous Chinese actor and tried to imitate his hairstyle. The result was not very satisfactory, then I decided to use a hat (sportive look). It turned out to be very nice and harmonious with the full outfit.
Facial expression: same problem with the hair, it cannot be too complicated otherwise it might lose all the great details. This voice actor is a very gentle person, and his eye shape is relatively long and narrow, so I chose to give him a smiling face to show his tenderness. It is also a wish for him to be happy and smile a lot every day.
Outfit: to emphasize a sportive look since he is a very sportive person. The gift was originally planned to be delivered in the wintertime, so the T-shirt is not very suitable for the cold weather. I chose a long-sleeve hoodie with a hat, which has a young and easy-going look. The details of the hoodie like the collar and the front pocket came out to be great in the final product.
It has been a lot of fun and pleasure to work with Rook in this whole designing process, and it is a completely new experience for me to participate in this. When I received the final product, I was very excited because this is the first time I saw a design with my ideas became an actual product. I guess this is the greatest joy in making a custom-made gift for someone! Moreover, there was a short but sweet poem inside the package that came along with the metal. I love it!
