Designed to replace the legs included with the Walthers 45, 48, and 53 foot Stoughton trailers, these legs portray the landing gear in a raised position. Now the trailers can be paired with a tractor or set on an intermodal flatcar without the legs scraping the ground. One side has a small starter hole to attach a wire crank handle for the lifting mechanism.
The sprue includes parts to equip 6 trailers with new landing gear. It's just above the minumum price for a Shapeways print. That way you aren't being overcharged for a print that is too small, but the batch is small enough that you aren't buying more than you need.
On the sprue, the legs are arranged in pairs opposite each other. One leg from each pair has a hole in the side to add a crank made from brass wire. It is located in the center of the rectangular cutout on the top brace.
Assembly Instructions (basically the same as the Walthers kit)
- Remove parts from the sprue and clean up joining faces. Be sure to keep the round pin on the top of the leg. Don't cut it off as part of the sprue. They fit into the holes in the trailer floor.
- Choose what side you want the crank on (research your specific carrier and trailer prototype)
- The transverse brace fits in notches on the back of the legs. Check the fit of this part. The bracket that connects to the trailer floor may need to be filed down if it doesn't.
