The Class AB coach is a mix between a class B second class coach and a class A first clas coach with half of the car beeing first class and the other half second class. It belongs to a family of steel coaches that was developed in the early 60's to modernize the Danish passenger carriage fleet as well as provide cars to be coupled on some of the modern international trains of the time. It became a very successful design and spawned a number of variations, first the Class B, which was the original and most popular (all second class car), Class A (a first class version) Class AB (the coach you are looking at) and the Class BD (a variation with a cargo compartment for luggage). These cars could be seen on Danish rails to the mid 90's when most were replaced by multiple units. Some still drive in Sweden and many were sold to Iran after they were withdrawn.
