Product Description
Originally built by Barney &Smith in 1910 for the WP, the Drgw aquired them shortly there after. In the mid 30's, Rio Grande needed to compete with the Streamlined trains, but barely had the money to maintain the right of way. Their solution was to "streamstyle" some of their aging fleet. This wasn't just an appearance update, air conditioning and florescent lighting was added. They were first seen on the the Exposition Flyer, and later the Prospector. The plan worked, though they weighed in at more than a full size heaveyweight.
