Product Description
Built at the same yards as the more famous Mercury class destroyers, the Lugus class mine layers were an unusual political compromise between the constituent races of the Confederation. When it became clear that war was inevitable, some sought to retreat behind the borders of the Confederation, and mine laying was seen as valid defense in that case. In the actual event, the mines were much less effective than planned, and the few Lugus class ships produced were either used as convoy command ships, or as bombardment platforms.
