Product Description
NEM coupler fittings in N-gauge are variable creatures, unfortunately. Boo Hiss! Couplers often either don't fit in properly, or they pull out too easily, sometimes even if all the parts are from the same manufacturer.
These NEM pockets will probably be on the tight side, and OK for Graham Farish couplers (NEM hooks or Rapido) but fitting other makes like Dapol may need:-
(1) the lump on top (that fills up the space needed by the lifting Rapidos) reduced in size
(2) the rest of the arm filed down a bit from the top and up a bit from the bottom
Make sure the pockets are clear of support wax before you use them, and never force the couplers in, the detail plastic will just break. Take it steady and take off a bit of the coupler at a time until it goes in, hopefully with a gentle click. If the coupler ends up loose in the pocket, you may have to glue it.

These NEM pockets, once separated from their bundles, will fit most of my wagons that have provision for a coupling. The main exception is the HUO 24.5t hopper, with limited space due to the large hopper behind them and the impressions in the end platform above them for the hopper supports. Also, some of my older wagons like the P22, the O30 and the 9'6" wb chassis have no special provision at all for fitting couplings.
The Conflat P modelled with underframe structure need grooves in the top of the fitting, and half of the ones included in this model have that feature. They all have a tiny hole in the back to plant the end of a wire in, to give a way of keeping them in place on the wagon that doesn't involve glue.

I _have_ uploaded a separate model that I hope will take Dapol NEM without modification, called NEM365 something. These are meant for the Conflat P but would probably be OK on other wagons. Those may be loose for some makes of coupler (like Graham Farish). When you find a product you like, buy a lifetime's supply because they are about to stop making it.
DISCLAIMER - sorry but you'll have to take the hit if they don't work out for you. Please only return them to Shapeways if they're broken when you get them or they're visibly not printed properly.
Feel free to message me with feedback, or to ask for advice.
UPDATE 2021-05-09 Fixed the fitting on the ones without the grooves. These should fit pretty much all my wagons except the HUO and the Conflat P. The ones with the grooves will only fit the Conflat P model. If you fit them to my other wagons they won't go fully forward behind the headstock and would need a coupling with a ~ 1.5 mm longer arm to make up for that. You could adjust the shape of the mount with a file to get it further in, but I expect it would break.  The reason it's wider there is that the crown with grooves needs extra support. and only the fitting on the Conflat  P design allows room for that.
