Product Description
This is a copy of a Hawk minican motor. The interior is exactly the same size but the exterior is a bit larger due to the 1mm minimum wall thickness of printed aluminium. The base is also 2mm to allow for the recess to receive nuts. The finish from Shapeways is a rough texture but the material can be polished very easily.
Note this can is really meant to be used as a build motor as aluminum has no response to magnetic fields. However if you were to use very strong cobalt magnets, you probably could build it into quite a nice (and very light) strap motor. I might add that I experimented with printing these is iron but sadly, the printing tolerances for iron are just too poor for accurate dimensionality. Prining in aluminum however is extremely accurate.
