Product Description
A rivetted British Railways 16t mineral wagon with end, side and bottom doors. The side and end doors are to an early design of pressed steel. According to the best information I have, diagrams 1/101 and 1/113 were identical, but those wagons repatriated from France after the end of WW2 were allocated to 1/113. However, on drawings I have seen, the diagonal impressions across the square panels of the end doors slant in opposite senses: coming together at the top on 1/113 and the bottom on 1/101. I have used that drawn for 1/113 on this model as that is the case on the only photographs I have seen of wagons from either diagram. As on other models, there are bracing ribs between the sides to stopthem bowing during manufacture. They should be removed to model a wagon whch is not fully loaded.
UPDATED model includes a raised layer of capping strip inside the top edge of the wagon, which is a very minor improvement to the interior detail (less than 0.2mm thick). The main reason for adding it is to influence the application of support wax during printing, to avoid lines appearing underneath the rivets.
