Bussard Fan Assembly - Direct Replacement Part
For use with the Polar Lights / Round 2 1:350 TOS Enterprise model kit.
Use two of these to directly replace the kit-supplied parts. Unlike the kit parts, this one features individually-modeled blades that aren't molded onto a dome shell. This should allow for easier painting of the blades, and give the Bussard collector dome assemblies a more interesting look.
Like the original clear part, the inside of the stem is "tiered" in that the opening is 3mm in diameter but is only 2.85mm deep. After that, the inner diameter changes to 2mm. This allows the 2mm-diameter plastic motor shaft of the Round 2 light kit accessory pack (product number MKA007) to fit.
Trimming the stem to size should not be needed as the entire original assembly was measured using a digital caliper in order to create this part.
NOTE 1: the "blades" are delicate, so be gentle with this part no matter what material ends up being used to make it.
NOTE 2: because of the 3D printing process, the holes may end up "tighter" than what was modeled. Use appropriately-sized mini drill bits or sanding tools to core away excess plastic as needed.
