Festiniog Railway Van No. 3.
A model of passenger luggage van 3 built by Brown Marshall & Co. in 1876 in 4mm scale / OO-9.
Designed to use Dundas DM60 FR Coach Bogies. It can also use PECO Bowsider Bogies by removing the Ø4mm bosses and opening out the holes to Ø3.5mm.
This version features the unique moulding pattern on the door end and simplified railing shape with associated buffer beam. Research has not confirmed whether van 3 was like this originally, or if it was rebuilt during its life. Photos from 1920s show this condition.
It also includes a covered top rail for the sliding doors and bar across the end railing to mount the vacuum pipe
Known today as a 'Curly Roof' Van, they were originally referred to as having a 'Turtle roof'.
Vacuum pipes are not included. DP07 FR Vacuum Pipes would suit this model.
