Product Description
The Wantage Tramway was a standard-guage light railway which connected the town of Wantage, Oxfordshire to the Great Western Railway at its Wantage Road Station (2 miles away) from 1875-1945. Initially horse-drawn, the Wantage Tramway Company eventually acquired 7 steam locomotives and a variety of coaches to carry passengers to and from the town.  Standard wagons were used to transport goods traffic.

WTC No.5 is an 1857  George England well-tank locomotive,
known on the Wantage tramway as 'Jane' but more recently renamed 'Shannon'. The locomotive is preserved at the Great Western Society's Railway Centre at Didcot in Oxfordshire.

NOTES
  • This bodyshell is designed to fit an unpowered Kato 10-500 Pocket LIne 0-4-0 'Chibi' steam locomotive chassis. Kato supply a powered coach to propel this.
  • The Kato loco can be disassembled by undoing the two screws under the chassis.
  • The bodyshell should simply fit onto the Kato footplate but some careful filing might be required.
  • Reassemble cautiously using the original bolts. The screw holes should be checked for size and filed out if too tight to prevent the boiler cracking.
  • Powered and unpowered Wantage Tramway coach models are also available.
