Fake History
At the rise of the Galactic Empire the new Imperial Navy issued a requirement for a heavy gunship that would eventually evolve into the VT-49 Decimator. Corellian Engineering submitted the NX13 as its prototype. During a fly-off it outperformed its rivals, but its small size and lack of space didn't meet with the requirements for the admiralty. Corellian Engineering offered a civilian version, but only a few sold. Those that survived were noted for their adaptability and long-range endurance.
