Custom Magnetic Separator Base

This part is a custom base for a magentic separator. The base has two locations for a 1"-diameter high-strenth, rare-earth magnet that can be purchased separately.  We have used a magnet from McMaster Carr (5862K344); however, we make no specific recommendation on magnet.  The base can hold one each of standard 50 mL and 15 mL tubes. 

There are two locations for this magent in this holder; however, we do not recommend using two magnets in a single holder. Rare earth magnets can be very strong, and it can be difficult to insert two magnets into a single holder.  

In addition, we recommend excercising caution when working with strong rare earth magnets. They can be extraordinarily strong and can attract nearby objects with force sufficient to cause injury.
