N-Scale 19th Century Oil Tank Car (Single)

This late 19th century, n-scale tank car is sure to liven up any early freight line from the mid-1870s all the way up to the 1920s. Designed utilizing a variety of historic photos and diagrams, these cars come packed with prototypical detail including scale rivet and strap detail, prototypical oil dome with 5-inch safety valve, detailed wood beam underframe, scale stake pockets and Westinghouse KD-812 automatic air brake apparatuses.

This kit is designed to work with Micro-Trains archbar trucks (without coupler), as well as the firms #905 z-scale magnetic couplers  (these very accurately represent the smaller Janney knuckle couplers used on these cars in their prime. The tank is hollow, to provide room for weights, and the frame includes 0.35mm pilot holes to facilitate wire brake line and truss rod details. Lastly, although assembly may be achieved with the aid of super glue, this kit has been specifically designed to accept #0-90 x 1/2 inch machine screws to secure the bolster, frame and tank assemblies for easy maintenance and disassembly.
