- Toyota 4Runner, model years 1996-2002
What does this part do?
- Replaces the rear passenger ashtray with a mounting plate that can be used for mounting whatever you want that fits.
What else will I need?
- A rocker switch, LED light, seat heater switch, or whatever object to install in this mounting plate. Or I guess you could skip that and just use this as a part to fill in the hole where the ashtray usually is.
- A way to cut whatever size hole you need. This could be a drill press, dremel, or even an exacto knif if you're patient enough.
- Spray paint (depending on your color preference)
How do I install in it?
- I found this video on YouTube which details how to remove the center console. Once the center console is removed, you can bend the small metal tabs on the back of the ashtray to release it.
Anything else I should know?
- After you click the mounting plate into place, it can be removed but you must be careful with how you do it. See the pictures above.
- There is limited space for mounting switches and outlets. I had to optimize the design and squeeze everything in place to get them to fit. I can’t guarantee that everything will fit. See pictures that show the critical dimensions.
