Product Description
This is a detail part for HO Scale models of the Pennsylvania Railroad GG1 electric locomotive. In 1958 a snowstorm droping fine powder passed over the Northeast United States. This fine powder was drawn into the air intakes of the PRR's GG1s, melted and caused electrical shorts in the traction motors. Within hours the entire fleet was crippled. Meanwhile the P5s were experiencing no such trouble and were dispatched to rescue the stricken GG1s accross the system. Following the storm many of the GG1s were modified, moving thier air intakes to a higher location similar to the P5s. This part, represents but one of the numerous variants of the GG1 high air intakes, before ordering, consult source material that shows the GG1 you want to model does in fact have this variant of air intake (if it has them at all). This is the version that could be found the Savings Bond GG1 of the 1970s. This was PRR 4926, PC 4926, PC 921, Amtrak 921, and finally Amtrak 4921. This model contains four air intakes, enough to do one locomotive.
