Product Description
Conceptualized in the mid-1970s, the 747-200-derived Airborne Aircraft Carrier was intended to carry ten Boeing "microfighters". The fighters could be launched, recovered, refuelled, and rearmed while the carrier aircraft was in flight. Design studies suggested that the system would be more efficient and require less manning than a standard fighter squadron, as well as reduce or eliminate the need for forward basing.
