Product Description
This is my Interpretation of a Statue of Thor, Modelled on behalf of another Maker of Historical replicas who intends to cast the Item in Silver.
The Original was made of Copper alloy (Somewhere between Bronze and Brass most likely) found in the 1810s on a farm called "Eyrarland" in Akeureyi, in Iceland. The Original dates to around the year 1000 AD. It is currently held at the National Museum of Iceland. The Original was 67mm tall, but I have shrunk it down to 25mm tall at the request of the gentleman it is for.
With the addition of a Ringlet of some description, this would be the Ideal size for a Pendant.
The statue appears to be holding a Hammer before him with both hands whilst seated. This bears similarities to a scene from the Poem Þrymskviða, In which Thor recovers his hammer whilst seated by grasping it with both hands during a wedding ceremony.
