Product Description
This is a Belt buckle from a Pagan Grave.
The original was made of Copper Alloy (Somewhere between Bronze and Brass most likely) and was found in Middle Harling, just outside of Thetford in Norfolk, UK. It is unusual in that it is Rectangular - most buckles of the period being oval or D shaped.
The Man in the burial was likely a Danish settler and the grave is dated to the Late ninth or early tenth century AD.
The Replica is near enough 1:1 and will suit a belt strap 25mm wide. It will need the buckle pin and buckle plate fabricating and attaching. These are not included.
I have not yet received my copy of this and so I cannot vouch for its quality or suitability for purpose - but I will update this description when I have confirmed all is right and well.
Details of the Burial can be found on pages 79 and 80
I Have made it available in both Polished Brass and Polished Bronze and Polished Silver, but also In Plastic so that you may organise your own casting of the Buckle frame Which may work out cheaper.
