Product Description
This part is the Elco 80' PT boat throttle push rod deck housing for PT's 486-544, 565-612 and 731-760 that runs along the starboard coaming from aft of the forward turret to the aft end of the engine hatch. All parts are to detailed Elco drawings except for flanges slightly thickened to meet printing minimums.

This TPRDH differed slightly from those used on PT 367 and earlier Elco 80' boats. The aft end extended beyond and wrapped around the aft end of the engine hatch. The coaming did not extend slightly past the aft end of the engine hatch as it did on the earlier boats. There was also a small quarter-round housing forward of the forward turret.

Note that the coaming / deck was dead straight along the chart house, day cabin, and engine hatch and so is this TPRDH. It is in sections however, so a very slight curvature should be OK.

Preparation

The first step is to clean all parts thoroughly. Handle very carefully as the plastic is brittle. Please see the guide and links here: https://www.pt103.com/3D_Printed_PT_Boat_Parts.html. For best painting results be sure to follow cleaning with a UV cure from a lamp with the correct output, or the sun.

Sections

This part comes in 7 sections. The sections are, from forward to aft:

1. The short quarter-round section fits forward of the forward turret where the deck, coaming, and turret meet. The higher mounting block goes against the turret.

2. The short section with the plain top (no beads) and 1 flange at the aft end goes under the bridge wing. It may not be needed depending on how far the other sections total length puts the forward end of the next section under the wing. If far enough under to not be seen then there is no need to use it.

The 2 longest sections fit from under the bridge wing step to the end of the day room cabin:

3. The longest section with the plain ends goes under the wing.

4. The second longest section with flanges at each end is next, it should end slightly aft of the aft face of the day cabin.

5. The third longest section, with the hand-hole cover near the forward end, and plain ends, is next.

6. The humped section with flanges at both ends is next.

7. The double section with the wrap around end cover is last.

Installation

Fit sections together making sure that the tapered section locating plugs at the ends of some sections go in without having to use force.

Before any gluing, make sure to trial fit total length so that the wrap-around end section can butt up to the end face of the engine hatch. At this point you will be able to see if the short plain-topped section will be needed.

For scale accuracy, the aft end flange on the second section back should be slightly aft of the aft face of the day cabin.

Sections with plain ends may be trimmed if needed. Use a fine toothed razor saw and miter box to trim an end clean and square if it will be visible.

The tops of the sections should be level athwartships, shim up if needed.

For further details, please see this page: https://www.pt103.com/PT_Boat_Components_Throttle_Push_Rod_Deck_Housing.html. It is for the earlier housings but much remained the same.
