This is a clean, elegant screw mount hood for the Leica Q camera.
This hood is an upgrade from the stock Leica hood or other screw-in hoods. Sized and designed to be a seamless extension of the lens body, its precisely calculated baffles (only feasible via 3D printing) reflect as much off-axis light as possible. This hood protects the lens while looking and working as if the entire camera were designed with it in mind.
Having used this hood design (and similar other ones) on my cameras for several years, I can say confidently that 3D printed plastic is an amazing material for camera hoods. It is scratch resistant and shock absorbent - a great way to protect your camera and lens. I've dropped or hit my camera on hard, sharp surfaces many times and the 3D printed plastic has taken the abuse while coming out much better than a metal hood would have - with no paint to scratch, it still looks new. The tough, strong 3D printed nylon is also much more resilient than plastic manufactured via conventional methods.
Both materials of this hood I have listed work equally well, but the "Black PA12" material keeps its perfect black finish longer (the Versatile plastics are dyed, which tends to fade towards blue over the years & abuse).
The interior of the hood has clearance for a screw-in UV filter on the front of the lens if desired. I have designed it to closely fit the B+W XS-Pro Clear UV Haze filter. Other filters may or may not fit.
